18 month class: Your 18month-old will learn so much this year! We will work on the following items all year: the art of conversation (using words to express emotion, taking turns talking); manners; sharing; following directions; guided cleaning (“every toy has a home”-clean up song); and fostering independence (hanging up / putting on own coats, putting away own snack bag, etc.).
Our 18 month play-based learning curriculum focuses on basic colors, basic shapes, vocabulary building, introductory ABCs and 123s, introductory art (learning to use glue, paint, crayons etc), nursery rhymes, and other seasonal and interest-based topics.
Your child’s day will be filled with fun, positive experiences. Your child will arrive at 9am and will enjoy free play with the opportunity to explore the “learning tables”(children are invited, but not forced to participate). Your child will then work on guided art projects (All artwork will be your child’s work – we encourage creative expression). The clean up song will redirect children to straighten the room (with help) to prepare for snack time(You pack a daily snack/juice). After snack, children enjoy books or learning activities during circle time. Finally, children walk to the playground where they are free to run, jump, swing, slide, and dig to their heart’s content!
18 month-olds will also enjoy music class once a week.

· Reviewing and expanding knowledge of color (identification, sorting), shapes (identifying, drawing, sorting), weather, matching, opposites, patterns, direction, sequence learning, rhyming, days of the week and months, exposure to the world around them (including a few words in other languages), and much more!
· Our Reading Readiness program is based on a systematic, sequential phonics program, introducing each grapheme by seeing, saying and tracing. This is offered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Enrichment activities to correlate are provided on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Games and readiness materials are always available. This program is specifically for 4 and 5 year olds in preparation for kindergarten. Students learn to recognize and write the letters of the alphabet and learn to print their names as well as some basic words. Children progress at various levels and so exposure to early reading/writing is offered, but do not be alarmed if your child is not yet ready.
· Our Math Readiness program is geared to prepare the children in awareness and skills. Activities include counting, learning number names and number values, number vocabulary, geometric shapes, as well as working with the clock, calendar, money and measurements in cooking.
· Starting in January, students will also be introduced to speaking in front of others to build self esteem and self confidence when each child gets selected to be our “superstar” of the week, allowing them to tell us all about themselves, their families, likes/dislikes, etc.

NEW: Four PLUS Class *Please Note this class is only offered if the demand for it is there. We have to have at least 8 students registered out of 12 that are excepted into this program.
Many of us find that our children with birthdays which years ago would have qualified them for kindergarten are now wanting more from a pre-k program. The Four PLUS Program was created for those children who are older/more mature as four-year-olds and want more time at a school setting (including the chance to eat lunch) as well as a more advanced curriculum. The Four PLUS Program is also for those children who qualify for kindergarten, but (due to their birthday) are young and/or may not quite be ready for kindergarten. (Some candidates may complete the four-year-old program and then the Four PLUS Program before entering kindergarten.) Our Four PLUS Program continues to build on the strengths of our strong four-year-old program, while offering more for those who are ready. The following details distinguish our Four PLUS Program from our regular four-year-old program:
-We adhere to the state birthday cut off (All Children must be 4 before the start of the program). It is recommended that children with birthdays after March complete the regular four year program prior to the Four PLUS Program, but we do recognize that all children are different and some may have the maturity to enroll in the Four PLUS Program.
9-1pm, Tuesday and Thursdays (Recommended for those who have completed our regular 4yr program and want more - offered twice a week in addition to our regular 4yr program - Offering the best of both worlds!!!) Students will attend the regular four year program MWF and Four Plus on Tuesday/Thursday.
-Taught by certified teacher
-Longer day, more advanced curriculum
-Experience learning through various modalities.
-Learning in centers
-Character Education, Spanish, Music, Art, Creative Movement, Science, and more
